Midnight Train to Georgia

"L.A. proved to be to much for the man...So he said he's going back to find a simpler place and time...."

Queen Victoria, "The Young Victoria" : Such a Fashion Inspiration.

The moment that I saw the trailer for "The Young Victoria" I knew that I would either be buying a ticket for it at the cinema or seeing it once it came out on DVD. When it won the Academy Award for Costuming, it only sparked my interest even more. About two weeks ago, after dying to see it for about two months I finally got a chance to see it. And let me tell you- I fell in love with that movie. The entire movie was eye candy to me- the GORGEOUS majestic costumes (costumes were done by Sandy Powell) , along with the majestic English secenery (there was not a screenshot in the entire movie that was anything less than beautiful!)

The fabrics, colors, and textures used in the costumes of "The Young Victoria" have been an inspiration to my own wardrobe.

I had learned about Queen Victoria in my History of Costume class last semester and found her to be a very interesting person but seeing the movie took this "interesting" to fascinating!!! She was the inspiration behind all styles dubbed "Victorian!" She was the youngest ruler of England and had the longest rule thus far- 63 years. However, I have a feeling that Elizabeth II may be trying to break her record. (So far, she's been Queen for 58 years.)

And last but not least....Victoria and Albert's romance.. <3

So if you have any interest in fashion, British hierarchy, or are just a romantic at heart- you will like this movie. See it!

Cotton Candy Hair- LOVE!!!

It's almost Easter!!! So why not make your hair look like an Easter egg?!? Thank you Frenchie from Grease for being such a style pioneer.

...I don't have any tattoos, or body piercings, but I will dye my hair pink and purple.

Lately I have have been spotting pastel colors in blonde hair. I am a blonde myself- I love the look and think it's very fun. Reminds me of cotton candy!!! I'm a big fan of unnatural hair colors.
Plus, if Gaga is rockin' the look, that means I only love it about a gazillion times more. :D

...Considering doing this on my next trip to my hairdresser....

Kitty Cat & Fur Coat

The texture of this kitty cat's fur is similar to the texture of the fur coat that this model is wearing. Both are types of animal hair which have a hairy surface texture that feel furry to the touch.

Columns & Corduroy

The texture of the columns is like the texture of a corduroy fabric. Both have long, straight ridges in them.

Horse Mane & Clothes made with Hair Fringe

The fringe on the model's outfit is made of human hair. This is like the texture of a horse's mane. They are both made of long hairs which when grouped in a cluster, feel smooth to the touch.

Caterpillar / Fuzzy Boots

The texture of the fuzz on the boots pictured above is like the fuzz of a caterpillar. Both have long, extending hair-like fibers which give them a "furry" texture.

Waffles & Waffled Shirt

The fabric the shirt pictured pictured above is called "waffled." It's surface texture is like that of edible waffles! Both have square sections that are lower than the rest of its higher surface. Its higher surface is made up of intersecting perpendicular lines.

Oriental Fan & Ruffled Dress

The folds in the oriental fan give it a texture that is very similar to the folds that are in this dress. The long, straight folds in both create a texture of alternating heights in surfaces which feel bumpy to touch. Both the fan and the dress are made of paper which also gives the two a smooth finish, apart from the surface folds.

Crocodile & Hermes Crocodile Bag

The Hermes Bag pictured above is made of crocodile skin. Therefore, the two are almost identical in texture. They both have square sectioned bumps, like the crocodile's skin. The purse is shinier than the crocodile's skin because it has been treated with a finish in order to lend a more polished appearance to the handbag.

Snake and Green Snakeskin Stiletto:

The texture of the stiletto shoe was inspired by the texture of a snake's skin. Both are smooth, with small bumps in them. Designers often are inspired by elements found in nature!

Crumpled Paper Bags & Crumpled Trenchcoat

The crumpled texture of the brown paper bags has a likeness to the crunpled fabric which this trenchcoat is made of. Both have randomly dispersed lines and crinkles on their surfaces.

Shiny Black Car & Patent Doc Marten Boot

The car and the Doc Martens boot both have a texture that is smooth to the touch. They also both reflect light and therefore are very shiny.
